We publish two issues each year in the spring and autumn, with contributions spanning essays, journalism, photography and interviews. We also publish regular online-only contributions, videos and podcasts. Your subscriptions make our work possible.

FAQs
What do I get when I subscribe?
Free: Access to all online-only articles on our site, plus our fortnightly newsletter.
Digital subscription: Unlimited access for one year to all online-only and issue articles, plus our fortnightly newsletter.
Print subscription: For one year, you will receive everything in the Digital tier plus two print issues per year, published in Spring and Autumn.
Solidarity subscription: Each year, you will receive everything in the Print tier + our eternal gratitude for your support of independent climate writing. As a thank you, when you first subscribe, we’ll send along a limited edition BREAK—DOWN cap.
Shipping costs are included in the price of subscriptions.
How are international duties and taxes paid?
For international subscriptions, you may be subject to import duties and taxes. These charges are levied once the package reaches your country of destination. Please note that any additional charges are your responsibility, as the BREAK—DOWN has no control over them.
Customs policies vary significantly from country to country. We recommend contacting your local customs office for the most accurate and up-to-date information regarding import duties and taxes in your region.
If you are concerned about the cost of import costs, we suggest purchasing print copies via our distribution partner Newsstand (where duties and taxes are included) and/or a digital subscription here on our website.
Can I purchase an institutional subscription?

Which issue will my subscription start with?
We publish two print issues per year, in the spring and autumn. If you subscribe before the end of the two months after each publication date, your first print copy will be whatever the current issue is at that time. If you subscribe after that point, your first print copy will be the subsequent issue. So for example, if we publish our Autumn issue in September, anyone subscribing before the end of November will receive that issue as their first print copy. Anyone subscribing from December 1st will receive the Spring issue as their first print copy.
But don’t worry — in the meantime you’ll get instant access to everything we’ve published via the website including all articles from published issues, and you can always snag individual print copies of past issues separately via our shop or, for EU readers, via our distributors Newsstand.
How do I change my account details?
You can update your account details like your name, email address and billing method via your Account.
If you would like to update your shipping address, you will need to email hello@break-down.org. To ensure you receive the latest issue to the correct address, please make sure you let us know of any changes prior to our publication months in March and September.
Do subscriptions auto-renew?
Annual subscriptions will renew automatically unless cancelled. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time via your Account.
However, if you subscribed using our old website, your current subscription won’t automatically renew when it ends next year. But don’t worry – we’ll remind you closer to the time so you don’t miss out!
Can I track my subscription issues?
No. All subscription issues are dispatched by our distribution partner Newsstand and are sent by standard mail, which is not trackable.
What should I do if I don’t receive an issue?
Please write to hello@break-down.org if you have not received the latest issue within a month of the release date of the first issue you’re due to receive for subscribers (see “Which issue will my subscription start with?”, above), or a month of publication/purchase for single issues, and we’ll be happy to assist you.
All claims must be made within two months of the relevant forecasted delivery date; replacement issues requested outside of this window may be subject to an additional postage charge.
Can I purchase back issues?
You can purchase any back issues or single copies of our current issue here.
Please note that single issues don’t come with digital access.
